Mt. Biking: Lac Chambon-France Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny then very wet Max Speed: Distance Covered:
After a good nights sleep Half way up the Col St. Robert overlooking Lac
Chambon with only the cows in the neighbouring field as company, so with
breakfast finished and the sun out I had the mad idea to get the bikes off
and have a whizz down the windy mountain road to the Lac and hope we could
get back !!! The road section was fun and fast and like going the wrong way
around the Isle of Mann TT with motorbike haring up the mountain toward you
!!! The fields were full of mountain flowers and were stunning as were the
cows with bells :) Then half way down we found a foot path and had a great
bumpy time off the beaten track ,passing old farms ,grand houses and pretty
hamlets with fishermen in mountain stream !!!
We were half way round the Lac and decided to head to Murol to see the
castle on the hill and buy bread and cheese for dinner!!! The first part
went well as we found a shop but then got completely lost trying to find
our way back to the Lac in a thunder storm !!! So we sheltered under some
pines and had our picnic lunch and waited for the rain to pass.
We found our way back to the Lac, more rain, coffee stop, complete Lac
circuit, more rain Then start the 2 hour trek up to our van !!! It rained
most of the way and had to walk the first part up the track as very steep
but managed to bike the road section and we made to our van :) before it
got dark in time to put the bed down, take ibuprofen read a little and hope
we could walk in the morning !!!!
